Five Month Thoughts On Training

They say that if you do anything for 21 days or so, it becomes a habit. I’m not so sure that’s accurate for me, but since I figure the comment is about most people and not each and every person, I’ll let it slide.

But I will say that if it’s remotely true, then training is, indeed, a habit.

Today marks a special day for me. Not super-special, mind you, but special none the less. You see, today is the five-month anniversary of me beginning training once again.

As a result, I’m going to offer some thoughts by way of celebration. Continue reading “Five Month Thoughts On Training”

Back In The (Kettlebell) Swing Of Things

Last week, I didn’t get much working out down for a number of reasons. One of which was feeling like crap. Another was having workmen in our home to do a number of things. I hate working out with an audience, after all, and when I feel like crap…well.

No excuse, though.

There can’t be any excuses. Not anymore. I’m trying to stay alive in a world where there are a large number of people who want me dead. Yes, some include people who want me dead personally, most likely. Others just want me dead because I didn’t vote for the right candidate or I support the wrong policy. Still others want me dead because I live in the U.S. and am happy to live here.

They won’t delay because I didn’t feel good one week.

That meant it was back into training. No, I didn’t do any DDP Yoga. Not yet, anyway. I’ll probably do some tomorrow for stretching purposes, but I didn’t do it today because I love lifting stuff. Period.

So that put a kettlebell back into my hands. Continue reading “Back In The (Kettlebell) Swing Of Things”

DDP Yoga – Aftermath: Part 3

It hasn’t really been all that long for the “Energy” workout from yesterday to have done all that much, but it was long enough, and so far? Pretty much what I expected the aftermath to be.

I do feel some slight twinges of soreness in my lats–which oddly enough, have always been a trouble area for me to train hard enough with weights–but nothing spectacularly sore or anything.

To be honest, I’m a little pissed I didn’t finish the workout, but so be it. A lot of people can’t the first time. So I’m going to focus on just doing more next time. I got nine minutes, so next time needs to be 10 at a minimum.

Frankly, it was probably pretty stupid for me to expect to do a 21-minute workout with few breaks in it when I felt slightly winded from the intro workout. Live and learn.

I don’t have a lot of thoughts on any of this today, so I’m going to leave you there.

Moving forward, I’ll record my training logs here, but from time to time, I’ll also include some other things I’m looking at and thinking about, so sometimes there may be two posts on a given day. I doubt that’ll be the norm, though, just FYI.

Hell, I’ll be doing good to get a single post per day in with my workload. 🙂
